The PEAK of TNA's ratings were when DREWsso was writing, also know that he was drawing more for TNA at that point then Smackdown is today

What have I ever been wrong about? If I'm wrong about something I'll be man enough to admit it

WHAT DO RATINGS NUMBERS MEAN?

The most popular ratings figures you’ll see discussed on this sub are the 18-49 overnight ratings. What does that mean? 18-49 in the age range which is most coveted by advertisers, as they are the group most likely to spend money, so it’s the most reported. “Overnight” means the first numbers reported the morning after a show airs, which are subject to adjustments later in the day.

A ratings point itself represents 1% of all households in the united states. So if we were to assume 115 million households, a 1.0 rating is 1.15 million homes tuning in. The number itself, especially when account for demographics, is more complicated than that, but let’s keep it that way for simplicity.

Also reported in overnights and final ratings are overall number of viewers.

TNA Wrestling Achieves the Best Ratings in Company History in 2011

According to TNAsylum, TNA had its biggest ratings year in company history during 2011 TNA averaged a 1.17 (rounded up to a 1.20) cable rating in 2011, outshining its previous high of 1.15 in 2009. The previous year in 2010, TNA averaged a 1.11 rating on Thursday nights.

Tuesday cable ratings: ‘WWE Smackdown’ ticks up, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ dips

Last week, SmackDown’s audience was the smallest it had been all year.

It wasn’t necessarily shocking. There’s always a bit of a post-WrestleMania lull, and live sports have become a factor again for the first time since the NFL season ended thanks to the NBA playoffs. But still. WWE was clearly hoping to combat those factors with the Superstar Shake-Up, and it didn’t seem to work.

And on May 2, where the blue brand added a late addition from the Shake-Up in Chris Jericho and main evented with a United States title match based on Y2J’s long-running program from Raw with Kevin Owens... viewership shrank to 2.3 million.

So TNA at it's peak was around a 1.2 rating which is about 1.38 million viewers :jbhmm:

Smackdown (at least this episode in the article) had 2.3 million viewers :jbhmm:

Just curious how your numbers add up that Russo had TNA when he was at the helm consistently beating Smackdown today :yeshrug:

Because of a shady businessman who sold the company for way less than it had offers for
Point is, wrestling is not as popular as it was. An entire company is gone

Who cares if ratings aren't where they were when Russo was writing. The biz in general is not what it was

According to the trajectory of the ratings, GOATsso's writing was more important than either

You're only as good as the script
So you're really in here saying Russo is more important to the success of the WWF than Austin and The Rock? Therefore, he's more important in wrestling history than those two too?

For what its worth Russo has said he never came up with rocks or austin catchphrases, the peoples elbow none of that. People do give Russo credit for letting Mick go into his other characters and letting them flourish, but he didnt create them either. He didnt come up with DX and doesnt claim to, DX payperview was created by others and maybe he suggested giving them the name from the PPV name. I dunno.

He did put all the guys in positions to succeed and angles/storylines that will never be forgotten. Its really unfair to forget that. And nothing since he left was as good.

I mean look at Austin post Russo. Dude was fed up with creative after a few years and quit. Thats real.
