Yea i agree. I just don’t see how he’s a key cog for the lakers and just flat out wouldn’t help us in the same role.
They’re going to have to pay Murphy though. He’s probably not going to command IQ money but Julius won’t command Zion money either.

And that's a big gap, especially for someone they won't wanna throw in to take back someone making $30+ mil a year that they don't want.
Besides, adding IQ is really redundant with Hawkins there too.

Teams do redundant deals all the time. They can always flip IQ to someone else if they feel like they have to, there is a market for his services. Randle was there before, is cool with Ingram, and is an all star level player.
I also don’t think another team pays as much for Zion because of the salary, weight, injury, motivation, and porn ho issues. the main reason the Knicks do it is they assume RJ will get his boy straight and Zion wanted to come to NY even when they were bad. However because of those issues if they want to maximize the deal (aka everything the Knicks got) I think the Knicks ask for Trey Murphy and the Pelicans say yes.
Murphy is gonna get paid too though. He’ll probably command 4/80 instead of IQs 4/100. And IQ should replace CJ on that roster.

It's starting to appear that 4/100 is the low end
and if Dyson Daniels isn't the one replacing CJ, then their draft history deserves to be criticized.

That’s not accurate. When they drafted Dyson they were looking for a wing defender because Herb Jones hadn’t developed into an all NBA defender yet. Meanwhile Trey Murphy was also stuck on the bench not getting a lot of minutes either.
Stan Van Grundy had them both buried so deep behind Ingram, and playing not to their strength the Pelicans drafted Dyson to see if he could develop into a D&3. Meanwhile they had two D&3’s already on the roster.
Dyson still can’t shoot for shyt and Herb Jones is a who he will best case scenario develop into. This has nothing to do with a mock trade, but Stan was the issue with that team.
