This was the first wrestling game I owned.

:what:

GTFOH with this disrespect.

WCW VS THE WORLD is a classic.

and it revamped the wrestling video game genre.

War Zone gets a pass cause it was the first 3D WWF game and nostalgia. Attitude doesn’t get that same luxury plus THQ/AKI hit Acclaim with the “you made it a hot line, I made it a hot song” when they dropped WrestleMania 2000 on the 64 2/3 months later

WCW vs the World gets a pass also cause it’s the grandpa of the n64 AKI engine

why do WWF games get the nostalgia pass and nobody else?

especially seeing how WCW was bigger at the time.

i like Nitro for the nostalgia, even tho i was dissappointed, cuz i thought it was gonna be the glossy WCW/NWO follow-up to "WCW vs the World'.....and boy was i wrong.

Did WCW have any good games for the original PlayStation ? And I will not stand for the warzone and attitude revisionist bullshyt slander. Both those games were decent games and insanely popular until the N64 games came out. And with attitude the roster and match options were the most we had ever seen from any wrestling game at that point

"WCW vs The World" saved the wrestling video game genre. its kind of an "in-the-know" game because it didnt get promoted. but if it wasnt for that game, we would still be getting cartoonish bullchit thrown at us like "wrestlemania arcade".

yea, im not digging the WWF Attitude slander either, for the exact same reasons that you said.

i think people are criticizing these games in retrospect compared to what we got afterwards.

Man Mayhem and Backstage Assault perfectly lined up with how bad WCW fell off as a company.

Went from greatness to garbage very quickly.
Mayhem was actually okay, the problem with Backstage Assault was making a wrestling game without a ring and even worse graphics.

:ufdup:Wrestlemania the Arcade Game stayed having big lines at the arcades, and In Your House was fun as fukk too, not everyone wants every wrestling game to be a simulation.

:comeon:

it would be okay if those games were just side-chit, like nowadays with the WWE All-star games & such.

but those were the ONLY games that were coming out at the time.

"WCW vs the World" was the only simulation-style game to drop in nearly 3 years.
and it was unapologetically smark/puro.
that game saved this whole chit.

WCW vs. The World really was a decent game with good gameplay. It wasn't as good as the AKI games that came later but that's only natural. And it had a dope roster (even though they changed the names)

The Acclaim games (Warzone, Attitude) were trash but more in retrospect. There was no better WWF games at the time so we played it but Wrestlemania2000 and No Mercy...shyt, even the original Smackdown on PS1 made it obsolete

Hot trash.

my boy and I rented and copied it but damn that was a waste of a CD.

Corny graphics, stiff gameplay. The secret characters were some stock characters from a Party City catalog.

Yeah that's a ghost wrestling a bee. :mjlol:

At 7:58 they wrestle in a beehive or some shyt. GOT DAMN i never played more than 20 minutes this game has fukkery for days.

at 22:20 a cowboy vs an indian vs a sailor vs a zoot suit WTF?:russ:

WCW vs The World was actually dope for it’s time. No game had ever had the amount of characters as that game until probably these current WWE 2K games. That game had me really looking forward to the next WCW games on PS1 cause it was a great start, but little did I know I’d be duped into the disaster known as Nitro and Thunder :hhh:

did anybody ever play Royal Rumble on dreamcast??

did it ever even come out? and who produced it??

ive never seen it, but i vaguely remember seeing attitude on dreamcast, altho i could be wrong about that.

yeah PSX didnt get a decent game till Smackdown and the N64 games were still better. I'm a sony breh but the N64 wrestling games and Goldeneye were enough to own one.

you better put some respect on WCW VS THE WORLD's name.

glad to see WCW vs the world getting some credit on here.

attitude was the greatest thing in '99. but they didnt even get a full year to breathe. smackdown dropped and immediately made it an afterthought. i couldnt even go back to attitude, and traded the ECW game away right after i ended it. and i say this as someone who goes back and plays OLD ass games such as "double dribble" and "pat riley basketball" like its nothing. i think the acclaim engine got flat-topped so abruptly that i just couldnt go back to it until they made their underrated resurgence with the "legends of wrestling" series.

N64 was moreso for the game-a-holics. outside of them, very few people had an N64 so i didnt get to play their games like that, but its understood that they had the best wrestling titles overall.
i had a homie who got an N64 just so he could play the WCW games. he barely had anything else for the system.

Now warzone and attitude in retrospect was trash because of the awful ass mortal Kombat dial a face button sequence to so a simple suplex but everyone loved them when they first dropped. Nitro and Thunder were just ass. They had the same problem but the gameplay was even more clunky and slow. I think it ran at 5fps or some shyt. Which was a shame because Vs the world was decent but Aki just moved over and developed N64 games

I semi liked that second ECW game that no one played. The simplified the execution by having less button inputs
