Please do correct me if I'm wrong my knowledgable brothers, but isn't the reason the position of a particle changes as we observe it simply a result of observing it being a non-passive act?

To see the particle, we need to shoot electrons at it in an electron microscope, so that they are reflected off the particle back onto a film (producing an image), but in the process of reflecting electrons of the particle you end up inevitably moving the particle.

Therefore, it's not "you observing" the particle that changes it, but you shooting shyt at it - which will of course move it.

No mystery here.

:ohhh:
i tried googling the "explanation" and this never came up :manny: i guess google don't know everything. my "quantum physics" game is pretty general so good looking out

lol...I don't even have to watch the video to know it's bullshyt. We talked about this on the podcast once and Leyet thought the same thing. Me and Zerozero had to correct him.

Consciousness does not effect the activity of the particle. It's the limitation of our perception that gives the illusion of so. Lights just acts as a wave and a particle simultaneously, which seems like a paradox under classical mechanics, but we're dealing with quantum mechanics.

quantum mechanics doesn't make any sense. it's all about probabilities and uncertainty.

Personally I don't put much stock in theories.

Pretty much.
:yeshrug:

you guys could b right

the people who founded and study loop quantum gravity and relational interpretation of quantum mechanics aren't physicist at all, but are religious nutjobs.

Thomas Young and Carlo Rovelli are both idiots and any conclusion made is without a doubt absolutely incorrect -- even if we don't know for certain why we see results like this; and this isn't one of the most amazing things in science.

@squiddyB your interpretation of quantum mechanics isn't anything that I've read before (at least the way you say it) and is not even correct. They left detectors on and turned the recorder on and off producing two different results while recording or not recording; but the main point was that particles can act like both waves and particles.

@others... http://grad.physics.sunysb.edu/~amarch/Walborn.pdf

I'm not so much an 'observer' type of person to where I would make the claim that the mere observation is what caused the change. But I don't think we have clear cut explanations.

@the mechanic
:what:
Werner Heisenberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1932 "for the creation of quantum mechanics" ... yet his views on the universe, religion, and mysticism would get clowned in closed-minded realm of HL.

We seem to be fooling ourselves into believing that the founders of every topic in science were eternal skeptics - and that sh1ts just not true. I believe in hidden variables. Of course, that has nothing to do with religion, and the people who speak to this in physics are atheist.... however we'll assume that's some ignorant religious indoctrination.

:dwillhuh:

There's a reason for that. Sh1t doesn't follow classical physics.. and we don't know the reason why we perceive the results to be different under observation.

:pachaha:

What the fukk does that even mean..and how does it relate to my post.? Read it again

the religious folks like to get worked up about quantum mechanics because they think it gives them an infinitismal hope of sneaking their God of the gaps in

Now tell me does it matter if the "founders" were skeptics,buddhists or even satanists.:leon:.my point was that religious people are twisting and misusing the uncertainty in quantum physics to drag in their zombies ...:scusthov:...thats unacceptable..the observer effect is real and has been explained

But hey you keep hoping that believing in irrational nonsense can make anybody smarter....youre living proof of this

Thomas Young and Carlo Rovelli are both idiots

Thomas Young (scientist) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thomas Young (13 June 1773 – 10 May 1829) was an English polymath. Young made notable scientific contributions to the fields of vision, light, solid mechanics, energy, physiology, language, musical harmony, and Egyptology. He "made a number of original and insightful innovations"[2] in the decipherment of Egyptian hieroglyphs (specifically the Rosetta Stone) before Jean-François Champollion eventually expanded on his work. He was admired by, among others, Herschel, Helmholtz, Maxwell, and Einstein.

Carlo Rovelli - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carlo Rovelli (born 3 May 1956) is an Italian theoretical physicist and writer who has worked in Italy and the USA, and currently works in France. His work is mainly in the field of quantum gravity, where he is among the founders of the loop quantum gravity theory. He has also worked in the history and philosophy of science. He collaborates regularly with several Italian newspapers, in particular the cultural supplements of Il Sole 24 Ore and La Repubblica.

YEAH THESE GUYS ARE REAL MORONS, BROTHER! :pachaha:
