Oh. Yikes. I stand corrected. 🫢He offered the label for the RD masters and Dame said no.
Dog mouth Dash is looking fukked up out here. 10 years ago he would have shyt on anyone moving like he is now.
Facts. With all the money he's had access to the smart move is to invest some in safer or more stable assets and then use the money made from that to start the new businesses and ball off of if that's what you want. You don't invest it all in risky investments or you risk going broke again.

He did keep it most of the artists under a different name, he changed it like 3 times. DD music group, ROC something, roc something else. You misinterpreted what I meant. Jay should absolutely keep his catalog. I'm talking about Rocafella the label.
They didn’t own 50 percent of the Roc. It was a partnership where they distributed and got 50 percent of the profits. The contract with them ended in 2003. At some point Jay Z sold his shares and then bought them back or something around 2010 or 2011 if I recall. It’s why Watch the Throne came out under Rocafella Records. He did keep it most of the artists under a different name, he changed it like 3 times. DD music group, ROC something, roc something else.
Kanye, Free, Chris and Neef plus Bleek went to Def Jam the rest with Dame.
But everyone left dame kinda quick.
These were grown men you couldn’t force Bleek and Ye to go with Dame.
Now if Jay-z left for another label like Atlantic and didn’t wanna sign whoever wanted to sign with him. And literally gave Dame his shares for free. Then maybe that would work. But I have a hard time seeing def jam wanting to be partners with Dame.
People forget that Def Jam owned 50% of the roc, Dame 16.6%, he talked like it was the opposite
Nope, they sold 50% of the LLC in 1997, Def Jam bought the remaining 50 % in 2004 and Jay became CEO. The sign-on bonus was his catalogue. Kanye while on Def Jam until 2013, released all his music under the Roc-a-fella brand, as did Jay, but also Freeway and Jada. Basically they only "relaunched" the brand for Jay and Kanye releases in the end. They didn’t own 50 percent of the Roc. It was a partnership where they distributed and got 50 percent of the profits. Jay Z was not releasing his music under Rocafella in 2013, you have the nerve to tell someone to press Google and said something like that. I get that we’re on the internet but being cordial in convos goes a much longer way when someone isn’t being belligerent. Google is extremely close to the button where you press "reply" to comments.
Exactly. This fukking guy. Needs to go back to making videos about how he eats good with big plates.Artery the rat don’t know shyt
This man is really trying to challenge me on Jay-zJay Z was not releasing his music under Rocafella in 2013, you have the nerve to tell someone to press Google and said something like that. But maybe you should press Google and realize how wrong you were and humble yourself to not try to pop shyt on the internet that you would dare utter in any legitimate business room without being laughed at. Maybe you should read up about the specifics of how that deal actually worked while you’re at it - Dame and co., maintained full creative control the entire time and the distribution deal ended in 2003. Dame could move like that because they weren’t “signed” to Def Jam like other artists. Dudes argue with half truths.
