Some of ya'll need to realize this is a POP RECORD. not hip hop. POP. Cardi B was definitely needed. she gave the song that extra umph it needed. Her verse was great. not over the top and it added to the song. Oh wait, ya'll rather have Kendrick Lamar on it right? Even though he would absolutely ruin the song.

The weird shyt to me is...

nikkas done spent years like "damn, nobody makes music like this anymore"

Then somebody does (and openly does it in tribute at that), and it ain't who they want it to be so then they just pop up with a million ways to discredit it.

I get the argument about how the music industry is doin' this and that, but we might as well get over that shyt. Cause the music industry been doin' the same bullshyt they do now since before we were born. Their bottom line is always how much money they stand to make. If they could make a cartoon fish singin' all soul records from the 70s and it could sell millions, they would do that shyt. A fukkin' cartoon fish would be the biggest thing in all of music. Cause the music business pushes whatever they believe people will buy- they'll push a Hawaiian guy singin' 80s R&B tributes, just like they pushed white boy bands, just like they pushed scary black 'gangstas', just like they pushed Latin dance music, etc., etc. The only thing they won't push is some shyt that ain't sellin'.
So basically we should just accept amerikkka’s anti-black agenda and stop complaining about it because whites have always pushed it?

I think Bruno Mars is fairly talented. He doesn't blow me away but he's not marginal like Justin Timberlake. I never go out of my way to hear Bruno Mars but if I hear "Flowers" and "Uptown Funk", I enjoy the shyt. I'm a bit surprised that he's become a nostalgia artist of sorts and to me, that's where shyt starts getting iffy. And given the trend of Bieber, Adele, Ed Sheeran, etc I'm supposed to sit back and pretend like I don't know how White people have always played the game?

We just can't be falling for the okie doke in 2018. It's OK to ask questions.

I'm not seeing this with Bruno though. Dudes goes out of his way to put on black musicians and writers.

Like who?

I'm not necessarily referring to Atlantic doing their due diligence, I'm more or less talking about how SHE'S the one they're doing it with. There are so many more talented artists that aren't getting that push that's all.
Listen I get you don’t like her but stop with this more talent bullshyt. If a song is good people will like it. Few years ago people were saying why doesn’t Beyoncé go away and comeback playing a fukking guitar. That’s not her lane and there is no reason for her to alienate her fan base. The artist who don’t get a push are I’m sorry to say either lazy, not marketable or a combo of both. There was a poster who posted some girl singing with a guitar saying she so talented and she should be pushed well if her lane is coffeeshops and picnics that’s going to be her level and nothing higher because the artist is limited in her appeal.
If an artist is really as good people say they will get support from the fans.

I promise I’ve seen this video 50 times on my news feed already

People miss the whole vibe of the 90’s but too embarrassed to admit this era is trash :mjlol:

I understand doe we've been used and abused for so long you gotta suspect everyone .
Whoa you tip toe'n on some c00n shyt. You don't need to backhand commet black people/or music to justify your lack of awareness of non blacks and industry artist ripping off black people music with no originality

This is more Hip-Hop than anything in Hip-Hop since about when Migos popped and New York completely fell off (they already fell off when Wayne popped, but he could spit for real pause).. Game busy finga fukking teenagers.. and that's about it for the West.
:yeshrug:
This is technically New Jack Swing music (birthed by Teddy Riley (Guy, BlackStreet, Bobby Brown's My Prerogative)) but their attitude is Hip-Hop. Unlike these mumblers and dudes who don't rep where they from but just try to sound like whatever's hot.. Hip-Hop used to be about being fresh and standing out and being an individual. Besides Future who I fukk with, I have to say Hip-Hop's a joke nowadays compared to the quality of the 90s-early 00s.

One of my favorite joints from this album and this remix works. Cardi did her thing too.
