BELLEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -
There was such sadness as grieving families gathered Tuesday to learn more about what happened to their loved ones killed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan when National Airlines flight NCR 102 on its way to Dubai crashed on takeoff.

All seven National Airlines employees on board were killed, including 34-year-old Michigan native Brad Hasler.

"My brother's been a pilot since he was 19. I used to fly with him on Cessnas all the time," said Bill Hasler. "What he loved more than flying was his wife of only two weeks. They were married just two weeks ago."

He said his brother's wife is expecting a child in October. Brad Hasler also has a daughter and a stepdaughter.

On board that flight Monday were two pilots, two first officers, two mechanics and a loadmaster. The plane was carrying vehicles and other cargo, and in the case of the people on board, very precious cargo.

"Brad was a wonderful family man. He had many friends, and we loved him very much," Hasler said.

So many friends have told Fox 2 that Brad was a 1996 graduate of Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview. He was captain of the hockey team there and loved hunting, fishing and softball.

In his old neighborhood in Riverview, those who watched him grow up can't believe what has happened.

"Definitely a go-getter, I mean beautiful person. That's heartbreaking news," former neighbor Debrah Christy commented.

It's heartbreak his family knows all too well.

"I loved my brother more than anything, and if I could trade places with him so that he could be with his family, I would in a heartbeat," Hasler said.

At this time, the Hasler family are the only ones speaking publicly.

Meanwhile, we understand that the NTSB is sending a team of investigators to Afghanistan to look into this crash.

According to National Airlines, six of the victims were from Michigan, the other from Louisville, Kentucky. The following is a list of the crewmembers that they released to us Tuesday night:

Brad Hasler, Pilot In Command, Trenton MI

Jeremy Lipka, Pilot In Command, Brooklyn MI

Jamie Brokaw, First Officer, Monroe, MI

Rinku Summan, First Officer, Canton, MI

Michael Sheets, Loadmaster, Ypsilanti, MI

Timothy Garrett, Maintenance, Louisville, KY

Gary Stockdale, Maintenance, Romulus, MI

You're with the British military? Is Bagram sort of like a green zone?

nah fam US Air Force stationed in England. Deployed to Afghanistan. Bagram is a huge US military base in Afghanistan. I guess you could call it a green zone depending on your definition of a green zone.
