Violent Night and Menu should be good to go for the rest of the month. Really just Avatar coming out.. because I don't expect The Whale to do big numbers and the Brad Pitt flick looks like a bomb

Pretty ironic that a film about loving films is tanking at the box office. It’s truly a shame too because the movie has a lot of heart.
On another note, I’m not ready for John Williams to hang it up. Looking forward to that Indy score.

What's at the Movies this Weekend? (Dec. 9-11)
What's at the Movies is back from a two week hiatus. Not that you noticed. Did you? That's my bad. We here now though. We're now a week away from Avatar 2, so let's see what the box office has on tap before James (his friends call him Jim and so do I) Cameron makes his triumphant return.
Black Panther 2 is still holding strong, as it will play in 3,725 theaters. It will pass $400M domestic mark come Friday, as it currently stands at $397.5M. That makes it the number three movie at the domestic box office this year.
Violent Night adds 41 theaters and will play in 3,723 across the country. I saw this on Tuesday and it was excellent. Wenchery not withstanding. It was really equal parts Die Hard 1 and Die Hard 2 mixed with Home Alone. Especially with the
double crossing extraction team on snowmobiles.
to complete the homage. There was a scene where one of the mercenaries comes across a sugar cookie that fell outta Santa's pocket. He did nothing. I woulda had him pick it up and take a bite like the Asian terrorist taking a bite outta the Mars bar in Die Hard. That was a missed opportunity.
It's currently grossed $16.9M and looks to crack $25M this weekend.

I Heard the Bells is some more holiday fare this weekend and it plays in 1,250 theaters. It's
"the inspiring story behind the writing of the beloved Christmas carol and its author, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow." It's not for me but here's the trailer.
Father Stu makes its way back into 993 theaters as the PG-13 Father Stu: Reborn. It was last in theaters in June. It made $20.8M in it's original release.
We got a couple of new limited releases. To the End is a *checks IMDb* documentary about climate change, starring Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It's only playing in 120 theaters. Here's the riveting trailer.
Sam Mendes, director of Skyfall and ex-husband of Kate Winslet, is back with Empire of Light. It's "a drama about the power of human connection during turbulent times, set in an English coastal town in the early 1980s." If that interests you, it'll be playing in 110 theaters. It's currently sitting at a sparkling 55 on Metacritic. Not a ringing endorsement. Maybe the trailer will spark your interest.
