I believe it's saying that capitalist like to point to food shortage and unrest as staples of Socialism, all the while ignoring capitalist countries with food shortage and unrest.
It's an interesting concept and it certainly happens, but I'm not sure it falls completely in the realm of hypocrisy since capitalism by nature isn't supposed to prevent food shortage or starvation.

I imagine the free market capitalist will merely consider them to be market forces that will eventually correct itself.

He's saying that no one shyts on the concept of captialism when countries that have that type of market fail but everyone always points to Venezuela whenever they want to criticize socialist aspects that the US should enact (single payer health insurance, "free" college, etc.)

The market never fails, people fail the market.

My brother's keeper
I'm no fan of US interventions or Maduro's brand of socialism.

Chavez' charisma bought him an "it will be alright tomorrow" buffer.

Maduro doesn't have that. Venezuela's problems go back decades, and never diversifying from oil places them in this predicament.

Hell, cocaine is what's keeping a good portion of what's left of the country afloat.

Dragged out your home in pajamas, man damn!!!! Reminds me of that story of my substitute teacher in sixth grade from Chile. Saying the military snatched up his brother. He damn near broke down & every one was stone silent :dwillhuh:
South America has the same corruption as certain countries. I wonder why? :martin:
