if the kids had guns to begin with the shooter wouldn't have been able to kill as many people as he did
This can only lead to a higher body count, imo. Once its common knowledge that faculty/staff are packing........ wouldn't the shooters just be more strategical? Killing the staff on sight. Working in groups. Shooting windows out, tossing grenades, pipe bombs etc.
Yeah a teacher can still kill the shooter(s) and prevent a massacre, but I'm gonna have to assume the school shooters would account for that already. The shooters are the only ones with the element of surprise.
I don't have a better answer, but I know arming teachers can't be the solution.
Teachers didn't sign up for thiat shyt. If they wanted to be strapped I'm sure they would have went into law enforcemwnt.
Yea just let them be defenseless instead.
O wait gun control. Make them illegal so criminals say *hey dawg we cant use these guns, they're illegal* before going on a killing spree.

And why not just make school like a prison environment while we're at it?
I dont see anything wrong with an official having a gun. A good one. I dont see why we'd need to go to your extremes when smaller measures can be applied. The only caveat would be.
can we trust the official with a gun
This is fukking stupid. We had a resource officer (basically school police officer) have his gun stolen at our school. Now you give a gun to every teacher in the school and you dont think the kids will wind up getting them? All thats going to happen is a teacher is going to snap one day and shoot a bunch of people (we have all seen teachers snap before) or the guns will get stolen.
What happens when the teacher goes to break up a fight and the gun falls on the ground?
overall a dumb idea that would cause more problems than it would solve. just a few things that came to mind: suppose we have armed teachers, would they carry their weapons or store it in a lock box. if they carry it then you have the possibility of accidental or willful discharge when a teacher is around rowdy students. what if the teacher is between students fighting or horsing around and someone grabs the gun or or pull the trigger. the possibilities are endless for something stupid to happen carrying a gun all day long around kids. but what if they put them in safes or lock boxes, then have the chance of them being stolen by students now as they know that the school have guns and if anything thing actually happens they might not get to the guns fast enough. then what if a teacher wants to go off and off some kids? The simplest thing is to just assign a police patrol just as school guards to every school.

Yeah how long is it until teachers get even more censored and restricted from doing their job: teaching. So once students learn they can start trolling teachers by complaining that Mr. Anderson has been acting "suspicious" lately. Its a whole nother can of worms to be opened.
