I made everything here using various symphonic VSTs. I want to have an organic sound, so even the drums are library kits rather than simple drum samples.

Does it work?

Now that I listen to it again. I don't think hip-hop would go well with it at all.

there are rules to hip-hop. You can't make a rap beat with an odd meter. like 5/5, or 7/7. You can't have an inconsistent tempo either.

So you would have walked up to Rick Rubin, JMJ or Marley Marl and say hey you can't sample that drum break?

Rza yo after you speed up the samples you have to pitch them back down to make Enter The 36th.

Or tell the Roots, they can't rap behind a live backed band for 15 years.

Or present day.., hey Luger writing hats at 1/32 in succession with different velocities is a dumb idea?

Dude there are no rules, practice your craft and make it own :kanyeshrug:

None of that is in a 5/5 or 7/7 meter. And none of that has a tempo that is inconsistent.

MF Doom has that beetles sample song (Tick Tick i think it was called), but that is about as close to what i'm talking about.

For example. listen to this.

Anyone with a classical knowledge will instant recognize that sample. That's from Mozart, and it has a very weird meter in the original piece. But Eric Sermon chopped the sample to fit a 4/4 meter.

I don't think that Mozart sample will work if it is used without chopping. It's simply too hard to rap or sing over a complex meter.

So you talking about sampling or original production in your original post. We could list 10,000 tracks with orchestra samples.

I made everything in my original post. that was entirely my creation. No samples.

My intention is to make an entire 2 minute piece with a hip-hop beat. Sort of like "A 5th of beethoven" from the 70's.
