go peep that 20th anniversary concert he did on youtube.
So So Def and JD basically crafted the sound of the 90s and early 2000s next to Diddy if we're being honest.
Then you look at the songs he did for other artists...JD basically saved Mariah too.
And he's STILL making hits
You're giving JD way too much credit. JD was huge in the 90's and part of the 00's, but he didn't craft the sound. JD was a follower. Dre popularized G Funk, JD hopped on the bandwagon. Bass music was huge on the local ATL scene, JD starts making Bass compilations. After Kast blows up, JD is screaming College Park and all of a sudden has people thinking Da Brat is an Atlanta rapper. And yeah Kriss Kross is from GA, but you'd have to read press to know that. Breh makes a remix to "Welcome To Atlanta" (which the title and concept is lifted from a skit off Kast's first album) that features no ATL artists aside from himself. The Hitmen and The Trackmasters are huge off looping old '80's hits and here comes JD doing it.
I respect JD as a producer, writer, and businessman, but breh was never an innovator or trendsetter (unless we counting wearing clothes backwards).
