I'm not sure that these rules are a good thing. I'm one of the few people I know who enjoys watching a good four corners stall. The situation is similar to the one the NFL finds itself in. Change the game to make it faster and more spectacular.

This is y’all’s golden age?:childplease:

“B-b-but Silver changed the rules to increase the offense”. B-b-but would average 50 today”

The season should not be shortened.

fukk the NFL two very different sports :russell:
Whether it should or shouldn't be shortened is irrelevant to my point. Shortening the season would simply solve a lot of the complaints. that all.

I agree that the NFL and the NBA are different sports. Very perceptive of you to see that as well.

No people would still complain.

There is no point in shortening the season if people had a team they actually rooted for they would find value in seeing their team gel and grow over 82 games. As a basketball fan I’m grateful that from the Fall into the Spring pretty much nightly there’s basketball on for me to watch.

it nothing to do with the fans. Its about the players. Fan interest is not going to reduce injuries, players sitting out games to manage their loads,40+ games being meaningless because you had a weak start to the season and decided to tank. etc etc
Fans complaints are mostly valid and can actually be addressed if they wanted to.

NBA isn't some perfect product without flaw that people are just failing to appreciate properly. but even if it was, it's not realistic to think people would suddenly acknowledge this and change on their own. They'd more likely just watch something else instead, NBA ain't the only source of entertainment, the onus on is NBA to address complaints not the fans.

I read an article in Sport that stated "America does not want to see
intelligent, articulate BLACK millionaires" playing. For those who have played
the game and can appreciate the talent necessary to do seemingly simple things
like fade-away Js and no-look-assists, the game has never been better. But,
basketball is considered a black sport.

No. This is a lazy take. Whoever wrote what they wrote broke down things perfectly. Why don’t you tear apart what they’re saying rather than hiding behind this?
nikka, what are you yapping about?

You’re an example of what I’m talking about. People who complain about anything for nothing.

:hhh:

No one wants that. Not even the players. NBA is the most bore fest unless two prime teams are at it or its the playoffs. U can literally snooze through half the season

If you don’t root for a team it would be boring to you

Last NBA season was full of great regular season games and had one of the lowest margin of victory differentials league wide I’ve seen in NBA history

I think it proves that the NBA goes about it wrong in how it markets its product.

No matter what the NBA does...they'll always be a large contingent of Americans who won't watch due to "perceptions" of the NBA. There are many white folks out there who take pride in "not watching the NBA".

That we know, but we also know the NBA aren’t helping themselves with the way they make the love for the game temporary and based on a players legs

Marketing stars first is a proven successful method. Magic & Bird got the NBA off tape delay and Jordan brought them global. At this point, the NBA has no other choice but to use their stars as selling points.

I'd also say, the television partners also have a huge hand in what is the selling point of any one game

It’s proving temporary success. It’s not sustainable because you have years where people aren’t interested the stars being offered
