The USPS is mandated by the constitution to deliver to every address. Rural areas would bankrupt anyone trying to do the job. Private carriers currently rely on USPS infrastructure to serve these areas.

Government prohibits the use mail boxes, p.o. boxes, and the delivery of letters by anyone other than USPS.
Lift this and see if the citizenry can be better served.
Why make force USPS when there could be a better way?
The people complaining are small businesses and people not receiving packages, which could be shipped with other carriers. Even letters can be shipped with other carriers (documents are almost always overnighted through fedex or ups) theyre just too expensive to do so.The law.
