Actually I was posting an interesting news story. :ehh: You seem hurt by it for some reason.

Leaving three trillion barrels in the ground? Doubt it.

breh this is HL. if you come in here on some drill baby drill sh1t people are going to call you out on it. There are no 3 trillion barrels in the ground. This is shale oil that they're going to have to trash and pollute your country to extract. Arabs live like "sheikhs" cause a lot of that oil is in state partnerships and the surplus is used for huge projects for the country, infrastructure and welfare. This stuff is going to go straight into Exxon's pocket and the oil is going to get sold on the world market at high prices meanwhile you guys will be subsidizing them!! While your roads and bridges keep crumbling. Bad idea.

Damn I need your crystal ball. :comeon:

I didn't give a real opinion on the matter one way or another. You however seem highly bothered by the thought of a non OPEC nation having and making huge profits from oil production.

What evidence do you have that there aren't three trillion barrels in the ground? If they're down there, it will be recovered when financially and technologically possible and they're already working on it. Oil dependence is extremely high and as long as it remains a viable fuel source it will continue to be. When it comes to profits the environment takes a back seat. And let's not act like the current oil recovery process is a green operation.

You didn't give an opinion? You faithfully posted the company spin, said it's going to outdo OPEC, and were like "but we can't get to it " like getting to it is going to be a good idea. Like I said the OPEC nations are already investing in huge solar projects while your congresspeople are chanting Solyndra and Drill baby drill. Look, you clearly think extracting this oil is a viable or good idea. I'm telling you it's not and we should fight attempts to spin the public like this is the answer. Even when it gets dug out it's not going to reduce oil prices at all because oil will be sold on the world markets and that's a fact.

Oil Company Spin? That's the title/main idea of the article. :mindblown:

Oil Prices? Solyndra? You're arguing against points that haven't even been made yet. Why are you so insecure about this issue? Are you or your family in the OPEC oil industry?

Also, I never said it was a good idea. Nor a bad one. I just said the oil industry isn't about to leave a potential three trillion barrels in the ground.

I don't know what's hard to understand. I'm saying the world should move to green energy instead of fracking for this stuff. The idea that this is a great way to countervail OPEC is spin!

As long as there are significant oil reserves that could be recovered in the next 60 years or so the move to green energy is going to be slow.

Also I'm sure people realize that low gas prices are a pipe dream now. "Less dependence on foreign oil" is more of a patriotic stance than a financial one. Though the recovery of this reserve would lead to a shytload of jobs. :ehh:
