Euro, US dollar a penny away from parity
The US Federal Reserve is well ahead of Europe on tightening, having hiked interest rates by 75 basis points while indicating that more rate increases will come this month.

They literally mention our austerity policy at the fed level 3 times in that article, it’s a factor. I will now repeat myself AUSTERITY IS NEVER A GOOD THING.What's driving this is the global demand for dollars due to a lot of uncertainty in the markets. The dollar is a safe haven currency in times of market uncertainty.
On the other side, the Euro is falling due to diminishing prospects in the Eurozone largely exacerbated by the war. Rising energy costs and inflation will continue to push the euro down.
"A series of aggressive interest rate hikes by central banks, including the Fed, coupled with slowing economic growth will keep pressure on the euro while sending investors toward the US dollar as a safe haven, say analysts"They literally mention our austerity policy at the fed level 3 times in that article, it’s a factor. Yes that’s great once again AUSTERITY IS BAD. If our economic policy is playing any kind of role and it involves austerity that means a majority of Americans are being hurt by this therefore NO this isn’t a good thing"A series of aggressive interest rate hikes by central banks, including the Fed, coupled with slowing economic growth will keep pressure on the euro while sending investors toward the US dollar as a safe haven, say analysts"
And I didn't even need to read the article, but that's literally what I said in my post. It isn't just about the us domestic economic policy. There are global market economic factors to consider.
There is a lot of economic uncertainty at the moment, and the global markets are mopping up the greenback because of its status as a safe haven currency.
