Washington (CNN Business)The Commerce Department plans to restrict access to TikTok and WeChat on Sunday as the Trump administration's executive orders against the two apps are set to take effect.

Also, tiktok won't be banned until November 12th. The announcement on Sunday will only mean that new downloads of Tiktok won't be allowed. Existing tiktok users are safe though.

You are confusing the white house's priorities. They don't care about poor people/lower middle class (that's the demographic getting hit by this recession). They care about thee wealthy and big companies. That's why they had to keep the stock market elevated and it's also why they injected all this liquidity into the financial markets in March.

In this case they trying to protect Facebook. Facebook is a large tech company but TIktok was on track to overtake Facebook. It's one of the main reasons why Zuckerburg told Trump that Tiktok was a security risk

It is what it is. The same thing is happening in the iphone and AI industry. We banned Huawei and some Chinese AI companies because they were on track to eclipse US companies in those areas. We are in a tech war right now.
The only reason why they not banning companies such as Tencent or Ali Baba is because so many American companies rely on those two for E-commerce and other things. For example, Riot games is owned by Tencent gaming. Riot mostly hires Americans and most of the consumers for Riot games are Americans.

A whole lot of jealous people in here. Some of you don't realize that social media as a means of income will only become more popular in the future as AI replaces more jobs. Yall going to learn to adapt or die. If you can find a few followers that are wlling to pay you 5 dollars a month for content you winning. If you get 100 followers (which is easy considering how fast stuff spreads on social media nowadays) that's 500 dollars a month from creating short videos every now and then. This beats having to slave away at walmart .

Maybe you should use the app before judging it. There's a reason why Microsoft wanted Tiktok's algorithm. In my honest opinion, tiktok has the most accurate algorithm right now among social media companies this is why the Chinese won't sell that algo.
