Before I get to my thoughts on this, let me say that I agree partially with what you have said. It can set people up for life. It can teach them valuable tools that they can apply for the rest of their life as you suggested. But at what cost? Lets say you have a son and you send him into the military and he goes to war. Then what? He went to fight a war to make some white men richer and secure the resources the war is over? Is that a beneficial fight for your son? I wouldnt think so. And then if he loses his life over it?
And thats specifically my problem. That blacks (and other races for that matter) are going to fight in wars, that makes rich men even richer. Do these men send themselves into battle? Nope. What about their children? Nah. So why should we do it? I dont see it.
There are benefits. But these benefits are undermined by the negatives in my opinion. Especially when the wars are over BS. Now Im speaking of a "going to war" perspective. There are branches that do not go to war Im assuming? Nonetheless, supporting that kind of system seems hypocritical coming from blacks. But if each one looks for anyway THEY and only THEY can get ahead, we'll continue stepping on each other
