Sad to say but I think url peaked 2022-2023 and we witnessing the downfall. Battle rap might never go away but that was the chance to solidify themselves.

Feel like Eazy and Remy set off a shytty chain reaction

Lets keep it a buck, the last time URL actually had something on the level of special was the Lux/Calicoe battle. It felt like the shyt was worth dying for. Like the hip hop element was there. Like some straight up WM17 type of shyt. There was no going back from "just another lost nikka". Now its basically 2 hour long promos for lukewarm events, :flabbynsick: battle rappers that holds onto the glory days for dear life off the strength of the Red Monkey jeans.

I remember trying to binge through what I missed over the years and ended up going back to the old Philly vs Chester, Smack DVD shyt because these dudes not saying shyt anymore.

Battle rap itself refuse to evolved from having an outdated identity and shaking the residue of struggle. Hence this long ass promo right now:

WCW in 2000 status :snoop:

WCW in 2000 atleast had a coherent show compared to this mess of ass. It was a trainwreck, but I would have had a match about now instead of a 3 hour promo for an event that nobody will ever see.

They haven’t created any new stars. Still relying on people from the 00’s and the 10’s.
The elephant in the room is they didn’t “make” stars.

They just took talent from other smaller leagues and put them on their platform.

For instance, a lotta talent came from SpitDatHeat that they got credit for.

Once they destroyed smaller leagues by sabotaging them,
All of a sudden the “new stars” disappeared :sas2:

You say URL, but battle rap is experiencing a downfall:
KOTD - Dead
QOTR - Basically Dead
RBE - ARP 'Retired'

I mean they do deserve the credit. They put them on a big platform. That’s like crediting the Indy fed if we only knew the wrestler from seeing them on the WWE.
