Politically black people were legit rocked to sleep. Loved bill Clinton not because of his policies, but because he smoked weed and played a sax. At least now the validity of the democratic party is being questioned, in the 90s it was almost sin to vote anything but democratic and it was an underlining sentiment that that was the party for black people. Back politicians just showed up to a church sung a few negro spirituals and ate on the black vote. Now the democratic party is being challenged. Not to mention 72% single black homes comes about because of welfare reform done by Clinton, 3 strikes and your out comes by because of Clinton, loitering laws, stop and frisk, mandatory minimums comes about politically in the 90s all that we are still feeling the ramification of today.
Open racism has always been here, every black person can tell you about areas in the city, burbs you could not go to or be attacked by whites. Social media has just exposed what was known locally. Driving while black was a huge problem in the 90s
Gang violence a given, much better now then before. I can ride a bus and not be attacked at every stop with guys jumping on the bus and stealing on people for fun. I can go to places in Chicago and not have 100 dudes on a corner throwing up rakes, treys or fives all in my car, nobody checks you on the color you wear anymore, I dont have to worry about getting chased because of the way my hat is turned anymore. That's all 90s shyt. And just for clarity , chicago gets a bad rap for 500 murders annually (btw those are not all black folks as a 1/3 of Chicago is Hispanic) in the 90s murders were nearly triple that. Just for a side not in the 70s it was a time it got to over 1100 murders.
As for as the psuedo, you may have a point there but we got to remember delbert Blair , bobby hermit, Phil valentine, dr York, etc were all heavy in the conscience community in the 90s. And they would teach for HOURS a bunch of psuedo nonsense. So I don't know how different that is.
