Nothing you Teamsters have ever done amounts to anything the people running Wall Street get away with.

I don't mean to take this into a debate about unions/non-unions...but I just had to put that out there. Because a lot of anti-union sentiment is total bullshyt.

:whoa: hold on buddy...............

I AM FAR FROM BEING ANTI-UNION...if you actually read my statement I HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE for my actions.....I'm not saying the TEAMSTERS encouraged me or gave me a free pass to do the bullshyt I did....I'm just saying with that type of "security" you couldn't help but feel INVINCIBLE... :manny:

especially in the SOUTH where UNIONS are practically NON-EXISTENT....

but I gotta be HONEST........being in the UNION was intimidating ..even to me

you gotta understand UPS was the first big corporation I worked for barely out of my teens ....I didn't know shyt about UNIONS, JOB POLITICS, and EXTORTION

and yes ..i'll be HONEST.....the TEAMSTERS had some intimidating ways..dude when I got with the UNION...

I didn't HAVE A CHOICE ...I recall after my hiring interview ...getting all my paperwork.....401k plans, insurance and 1040 forms and this MYSTERIOUS little YELLOW form which I wasn't aware of....I asked the Supervisor what's this??...

he said it's your TEAMSTERS APPLICATION.....SIGN HERE!!!!!!!!!! :win:

no ifs ands and buts.......................

i had no problem with an arbituary third party like the TEAMSTERS "protecting" me from exploitation by management....

but it did come with a COST.. :smugdraper: AND I'm only SHARING "TIDBITS" of what actually occurred with me that makes me look at the TEAMSTERS with a leery eye.

along with the Union dues ...i got involved in a STRIKE that i not only didn't wanna be involved in but really didn't INVOLVE me because at the time i was hired as a part time loader/clerk ..the strike had more to do with the full time drivers...but that didn't matter to them

once in a BROTHERHOOD..you are ALWAYS IN THE "BROTHERHOOD" :demonic:

I just remember walking into the union hall for the vote on the strike..and seeing some big fat guy who looked like an extra from the show SOPRANOES sitting by the BALLOT BOX....

right then and their i realized I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO VOTE "YES" for a strike i didn't acknowledge :snoop:

started doing my research and realized I'm indirectly working for JOHN P. HOFFA aka JUNIOR HOFFA

That's my most of my thread history has revolved around stories exortion and mob affiliations it fascinated me :ohhh:

how the lines i so often blurred between CORPORATIONS and CRIME

now I'm not gonna totally slander the TEAMSTERS or unions in general..I DO STILL BELIEVE IN UNIONS

And i am a SOCIALIST BY HEART..but i just want UNIONS to act in a more DEMOCRATIC ...CIVIL manner that's beneficial to both the employee they represent and the management they are in arbitration with.

:ehh:

I'm a UPS driver and we have been working without a contract for the couple months. They are trying to get to vote yes and using all kinds of intimidation tactics. The stuff I've folks get away with, with the protection of union is legendary. As long as u don't get caught blatantly stealing on the job, you will always have a job.

they dont hire enough clerks....All that function 4 cutting is biting them in the ass now...

Carriers who know the scheme could do the sorting, but thats an automatic grievance in favor of the clerks...

There were times when management said fukk it and let me sort out the parcels..They knew a grievance was coming, but the carriers had to get out...

I dont mind sorting because that just gets added to the 3996:krs:

So wait, he paid her for sex while he was on the clock getting paid for sex? Some inception shyt. How much do UPS workers get paid?

What is the average wage of UPS truck drivers?

Answer:
Averages are so misleading. The average UPS driver's pay at this time 05/01/2013 is about $80,000 cash, and benefits of about $30,000 ($32.29 Hr
/$48.43 Hr OT) Employees pay zero for healthcare except small co-pay and deductible.
But drivers with enough seniority can get more overtime by "bumping" junior employees and with 15 hours a week of OT can earn over $100,000. With 20 hours a week of OT can earn over $111,000 cash, over $30,000 in benefits.

So senior drivers can earn OVER $139,000 in cash and benefits. There are ways to earn a few thousand more by working vacations and overlapping vacations with paid holidays.

Before you college grads, professional workers, or people who don't get there hands dirty get upset; For those who work in climate controlled buildings 9 to 5 or people who think they work hard but don't make half that amount start complaining know this: A UPS drivers job is a hard, dirty, back breaking job done at a breakneck pace for VERY long hours in often brutal traffic and weather conditions following meticulous work rules and procedures.

People see the money but don't see the work it takes to earn it. Most who try are stunned by how hard, tedious, and physical the work is. Many come to UPS with dreams of earning that kind of money but nearly 45% wash out and many never make it a week. Out of 50 applicants UPS select 1 and out of those only about half make it. After 15 years, most drivers, if not all, report some chronic muscular/skeleton pain. Most worked part-time for many years before they could work as a driver. Though some driver are hired off the street its extremely rare and speak more of the person than the opportunity.

For those who want to work very very hard, and stick it out for 30 years, the rewards are there. It's because so many people out there can't or DO NOT want to work that hard are the reason why the pay and benefits at UPS what they are.

The making of a UPS driver

When Big Brown found that its twentysomething drivers were flunking out in droves, it had a serious problem on its hands: how to train Generation Y for a hard blue-collar job. The company created a whole new approach - and it doesn't involve videogames.

By Nadira A. Hira, Fortune writer
November 7 2007: 9:06 AM EST

(Fortune Magazine) -- It's 9:45 A.M., and at 93 degrees and 1,000% humidity, Saddle Brook, N.J., feels more like the Serengeti than suburbia. I'm in a doorless truck, wearing high-waisted shorts, facing a day full of handcarts and heavy boxes. When I arose at 5:45 this morning - an hour I haven't seen the daytime side of since ... ever - the day had something of the adventurous about it. Like more of my Generation Y peers than one might expect, I'd never worn a uniform, or even properly nine-to-fived it for that matter, and here at last was my chance.
UPS would soon fix me, though. At 8:15, after touring the huge open warehouse of concrete and conveyor belts that is UPS's Saddle Brook center, I met Vincent "Vinny" Plateroti, a UPS "driver service provider," or DSP - that's UPS for driver - of 21 years and my escort for the day. At 8:45, we attended the "pre-work communications meeting," or PCM - UPS for morning meeting - which included reports from the previous day and a short but detailed lecture on hydration.

At the Integrad facility, teaching tools include a UPS 'package car' with see-through sides, sensors to measure the forces on trainees' joints, and videocameras to record their movements as they lift and lower packages.

The old man of the industry
But such is the Gen Y reaction to what one academic described as a "plum blue-collar job." (UPS drivers make an average of $75,000 a year, plus an average of $20,000 in health-care benefits and pension, well above the norm for comparable positions at other freight carriers.) Much derided as a group of upstart technophiles of little work ethic and even less loyalty, Gen Yers aren't exactly a perfect fit for Big Brown. In fact, it's hard to imagine a worse match.
