Am I remembering X-men wrong? Wasn't Mystique basically a fukking footnote outside of anything involving night crawler? These producers sticking it in Jlaws butt and using that to over leverage a shytty ass character to the forefront is embarrassing to the franchise.

Basically in the comics only time you saw mystique is if they wanted to insert some nerd half nudity shyt or if someone had to break into some place.
Yeah, plus her powers works better as a villain because most of the time when you need to steal someones identity is because you're doing something duplicitous.

I know breh but you know when she gets translated to movies it has to be somewhat consistent especially in a shared universe. I guarantee you and am willing to make a bet it’s a question that will come up.
Scarlet Witch was on the Avengers and the public and media was lighting her ass up. All it takes for a few mutants to call humans deaths and here we go. The real problem for the mcu is mutants aren't new. They've been established for auite some time. It woild take extreme history scrubbing to fit in.

I think the explaination during the first Ultimates run was that the avengers were all born human
(except wasp who was a mutant, but she keep that a secret, and Thor whom they all believed was lying about being a god and really got his powers from a tech advanced hammer.)

So the avengers were regular people with tech (Iron Man, Widow, Hawkeye, Fury, Antman) or some steroid enhancements like Cap. Even Hulk was a regular human but people hated him too actually so they also keep Banner and hulks connection a secret.

Whereas the mutants were openly and apologetically different than humans. A difference race of beings. So obviously the maga crowd choose sides.

And the most ironic thing is that Mutants with or without an X-gene is basically STILL a human... :mjlol: it literally made no sense why they are STILL hated...

made no more sense than racism but it exists....

its the same premise ... those that are born different than the majority are to be taken advantage of.. if its not racism then think about how society sometimes treats people with disabilities inferior..

How many black characters were in it and did they get any shine or were they simply background tokens?

Storm got a little bit of shine, and Jessica Chastain’s main goon was some African dude but he was pretty forgettable. Magneto also had some bald black chick on his lil squad of misfits but if you blink, you’ll miss it

Did Quicksilver get another epic slow mo scene?

quicksilver fans are gonna be so disappointed. He’s in the movie for a good 5-10 minutes. He gets bushed by Jean pretty quick and doesn’t appear again

@Larry Legend Was the great Stan Lee in this with a cameo?

Stan Lee didn’t have a cameo this time around

Do Magneto and Malcolm Xavier have another dumb idealogical conversation where Charles forgives him for betrayal and genocide again?

What are the big action set pieces?

I aint seeing this shyt :mjlol:

wouldn’t be an X-Men movie if they didn’t lol.. they end on a good note though..

As far as big action set pieces.. I guess that would be Jean dirtnapping a member of the X-Men lol.. the climax of the movie takes place on a train. Big fight between the x-men and Chastain’s alien goons.. Jean gets involved. Decent stuff

Were there any good parts to the movie? :lupe:

Yeah lol.. I didn’t hate it. There’s a fighting scene on a train where Nightcrawler finally bosses up and catches some bodies. Favorite part of the movie

What was the mutant roster in this movie? Any new characters or still the Charles, Magneto, Mystique, Beast core group FOX keeps using?

Charles, Beast, Cyclops, Jean, Storm, nightcrawler, Mystique and Magnito joins for the 3rd act.

Quicksilver goes MIA

Who dies in this film
only Mystique

So my review...

If you’re a fan of the X-Men franchise, you’ll enjoy the movie. It wasn’t great, but it’s not that bad I guess. More of the same..

I thought the action was good for the most part, and there were a couple wow moments from my guy Nightcrawler, but the movie itself felt a little rushed. There’s pretty much no build up to Jean becoming Phoenix.. her transition is so sudden, it didn’t seem natural. One minute she’s a sweet smiling girl, and the next she’s trying to fukkin kill Charles.. if any movie needed a longer runtime, it’s this one..

There’s also no real explanation of Chastain and her goons. We don’t get a motive or insight where they even came from, it’s just stated that they aren’t human or mutant and that’s it.. maybe if I was more familiar with the source material it would make sense?

I thought maybe she was some villain from the comics, but even the survey we got at the end simply referred to her character as “Alien.”... so yeah

:francis:

Other gripe I had was Storm’s accent. Cute actress but that shyts awful.. also not nearly enough new mutants introduced, and Quicksilver needed WAY more screentime. Dude was in the movie for about 5 minutes. SMH

But again, not bad. Movie had a bit of emotion in it which shocked me.. The cool action sequences, and seeing Jean catch a body is worth a watch. Wouldn’t go out of my way to see it though..

This is the whole reason i had a problem with fox. They are terrible at casting woman. Can't find a single person who can pull off an african accent? Literally any english actor and 90% of american actresses can do that. Or you could just cast an actual african :lupe:

truthfully, without wolverine, or gambit, or grown rogue. I feel like the xmen is just a group of super powered preppy students.

Beast - Nerd
Cyclops - Square
Jean - Teacher Pet
NIghtcrawler - Dork
Prof X - Nerdy Teacher

You really need to include some of the darker more edgier characters to make it interesting.

Contrast with avengers
Billionaire playboy
Seductive Spy
Norse God
Banner - Nerd
Cap - Square

Much more interesting dynamic

She was the "wolverine" of the brotherhood. That X-factor (pun intended) character that would give a group wins none of the other group members could, cause said character is hard to see coming and weirdly impossible to kill. Problem is, writers get a hold of that kinda character and have em all in the videos dancin. (Batman is arguably the justice league's equivalent to an extent but that's another conversation...)
