It's not about that breh...when people say he's a good pope they basically look at the way he governs and how he steers the ship. He's basically a liberal pope, he doesn't condemn LGBT movement, he's a critique of the right wing agendas, he's against capitalism and consumerism.
As for his personality one doesn't become a pope by having a bad stain on their character and reputation. It's a very democratic process so your rivals will sniff out any dirt you might have had.
