what else is there besides prog rock?

Im a huge fan of the genre btw. But I try to be practical in my appraoch to music making... Theres alot of genres that I love listening to but wouldnt think to sample

I was dead set on trying to flip The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane etc a few years ago... it just doesnt work

Only worthwhile niche in rock music is jazz influenced prog rock. And Id go so far as to say Jazz fusion covers that territory just as well. Cause then you get more of the vintage fender rhodes sound

Not really it depends on your ear and what you are trying to do. A sample is an option but it still won't make a beat by itself.

Some of their more far out stuff is decent for sampling

but compared to 70s prog rock?? shyt is basic
