90% of good movies were made in the 80s.
people complain about modern remakes, but all this copycat shyt started in the 90s. dumb & dumber = cheech & chong, good will hunting= children of a lesser god (deaf girl that works as a janitor but is secretly a genius), etc
eddie murphy in the 80s was one of the best actors of all time.
i hate overly serious, artsy movies & oscar-nominated types....the best movies ever, to me, are stuff like Highlander, Alien, Rocky, E.T., The Warriors...
Saturday Night Fever is one of the best movies of all time, and actually has a deep story....all the characters are under pressure to conform...his brother doesn't wanna be a priest & is jealous of the night life, the snobby girl he hooks up with is just imitating her boss...
there was a quote from Walter Hill, who made the Warriors & 48 Hrs, that most good movies are basically westerns set in different genres...and i agree w/ that...
you rarely see charisma on the screen nowadays....theres no christopher walken types anymore....
