Currently in upstate NY for an amazing event that is happening in my family. My sister is finally graduating West Point and becoming a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army.

My family has a history of LEO & military in the family, but no one in our family has become an officer. I tried the ROTC thing in college but it wasn't for me. Little did I know that my sister seeing me in uniform left an indelible mark on my sister and from the age of 4 she knew she wanted to go in the military.

Fast forward we are at the last days of celebration, ceremony, etc. Meeting the superintendent, some high level Generals, Majors, etc. It's an honor to be part of it.

The somber part is that our father isn't here to see her make those final steps. You probably saw my post last year about me losing my father, but we are here surrounded by love from family and everyone that helped her along the way.

I've been to the campus a few times but they opened a new museum to the public with some cool history of West Point as well as some firearms that were used across the world for certain conflicts amongst other interesting things.

I also have some other cool ass pics from the past few days. May share more.

Yeah it won't be an easy road for her. She is the ONLY black woman this year that got branched in one of the hardest branches in the Army.
Sky is the limit though. If she puts in 20 she can cash out with retirement and only be in her mid 40s then go do whatever she wants with the body of work she'll have put together.

Yeah really proud of her. Our dad would be proud. I keep joking with her telling her to go into politics but she has no interest in it.

Congrats op. All you’ll hear in this thread is negativity. I come from a military family too and black veterans deserve more respect in the black community. :obama:

For some reason they are honored and then get the:sas2: from our community.

Naw. It’s not the veterans, it’s the system that they are placed in. Salute to black veterans however in the service you are face to face with people that only value you cause you wear a uniform.

It’s not blacks doing it to other blacks. It’s the white soccer mom, banker, cop, and other white people that view themselves as being respectable that normally ignore black folks. But let them see you in uniform and they get a fukkin hard on. As if you haven’t already earned your citizenship through your ancestors slavery.
