While not surprising in a sense, its very eye-opening to see how out of touch the rich are... not just with sending the message, but also the implications of a lone-gunman getting a death penalty when Serial Killers, Foreign Terrorists and Child Molesters get life.
It's also the profile and reach of those offices. Those are the two most prestigious and well funded districts in the world. Southern District is the premiere federal law enforcement office in the world. They want their win. It's also an affront to the city in lot of ways....yes the establishment class, but that's what Manhattan is composed of, it's one of the power circles nerve centers of the world.
We had a shooting in Poway San Diego, at a Chabad, and think they did ask for the federal death penalty. They waived it for a guilty plea and life sentence. I think only one or two people were killed. They will probably do the same here. Federal death penalty is barely applied.
