Underwhelmed by Mission Impossible movies besides the first one. Am I missing something?

MI5: Rogue Nation is everything this franchise has tried to be. Good spy shyt, stunts, good villains, solid story. It’s an actual great movie. Good Lord that took a while.

If it’s not your thing, just stop. You don’t have to like everything.

No one is considering them some groundbreaking cinema marvel. They are simply great action films. I mean if you lined all the movies up, none of MI films would get to top 300. But they are not underwhelming.

Rogue Nation and Fallout were awesome films. Reckoning was becoming too chaotic, but it had its moments.

Tom Cruise doesn't show much emotion, but neither does Keeanu Reeves, yet people love John Wick franchise. And that franchise is more overrated than Mission Impossible

Watched Mission: Impossible Fallout.

I thought it was pretty great. Good villain, good action, good story, the cast finally settled into their roles.

One benefit Fast and Furious movies had over Mission: Impossible movies is that the core cast is there for the most part. In MI movies it kept changing. MI movies kept rearranging the cast and keeping characters and throwing them away. Ving Rhames, who is the heart of the franchise even if Tom is the main star. Movies like 3 are lesser because of Ving's absence. It doesn't feel like the MI movies don't get their groove until McQuarrie starts directing in Rogue Nation. That's when this really starts to become high quality and it finds its footing. This movie series doesn't really start until MI4. Anyone trying to get into these movies I would suggest they start with that one, then watch 5, 6. These movies act as a trilogy basically. If you like those, go and watching 1-3.

5 and 6 are great and next to 1 are easily the best of the franchise. Fallout in particular might by the best MI to me personally.

Good shyt. 7 next.
