*****WARNING RANT*****
ESPN, fox sports and the rest of the college football media need to do the right thing and stop pushing this bullshyt p5/g5 narrative and admit the aac is a legit conference. They’re doing this so they can keep paying peanuts on the dollar to the aac schools for a tv contract.
These hypocritical tv gasbags get on their soapboxes and bash the ncaa for not putting the athletes’ best interests in mind when they are guilty of the same. They have the platform to educate fans about the aac’s situation relative to p5 conferences and other g5 conferences. Instead they shill for their greedy bosses and the athletes at aac schools suffer.
By every metric from yearly computer rankings, rpi, tv ratings, and championships people should be made aware that there is no g5. There is a power 5, then the aac, then a g4. Not only that but the aac is closer in those metrics to the bottom p5 conference in any given year than the rest of the non power conferences. Despite that espn pays the aac over 30 million less per year than what power conferences make on tv deals. Keep in mind top aac schools outdraw many p5 schools in ratings.
Just imagine how much better this UCF team would look with just 10 million more per year. That’s 50 mil over a 5 year period ucf could invest in nutrition, strength and conditioning, recovery, housing, etc. for their athletes. Don’t ever let these tv dudes lie to y’all and tell you they care about “student athletes”. They care about the athletes at “their” schools.
