Honestly speaking, if he were alive today Islam would probably be the number 1 religion of black men in America.

I would have become Muslim if I were alive at the same time as him.

Mos def! I always said this.I almost converted when I was 17-18 but I was too lazy to keep going uptown from Brooklyn, I'd rather box, play sports, drink 40s and smoke blunts with my crew like "Juice".

Catch me in the safari zone
See this is why I appreciate dudes like Big Daddy Kane and Chuck D. As a youngin' they put me on to Malcolm through songs, which led me to another great man in the Minister Louis Farrakhan Muhammad Jr., which led me to knowledge of self, which led me to a free mind. Although I am not a Muslim I subscribe to many of their ways and apply to my life. I thank God for my REAL Muslim brothers.

here is a consortium of his brilliance-

Interviewer: It has been suggested also that this movement preaches the gospel of violence.

Malcolm: No. The black people in this country have been the victims of violence at the hands of the white man for 400 years. And following the ignorant negro preachers we thought that it was God-like to turn the other cheek to the group that was brutalizing us. And today the honorable Elijah Muhammad is showing black people in this country that just as the white man and every other person on this earth has God-given rights, civil rights...any kind of rights that you can think of when it comes to defending himself, black people should have the right to defend themselves also. And because the honorable Elijah Muhammad makes people brave enough, man enough to defend ourselves whatever the odds are, the white man runs around here with a doctrine that Mr. Muhammad is advocating violence when he's actually telling negroes to defend themselves against violent people.

Interviewer: I see. Well, Reverend Martin Luther King preaches a doctrine of non-violent insistence on the rights of the American negro. What is your attitude toward this philosophy?

Malcolm: The white man pays Martin Luther King. Subsidizes Martin Luther King, so that Martin Luther King can continue to teach the negroes to be defenseless. That's what you mean by non-violent. Be defenseless. Be defenseless in the face of one of the most cruel beasts that has ever taken the people into captivity. That's the American white man. And they have proved it throughout the country by the police dogs and police clubs. A hundred years ago they used to put on a white sheet and get a bloodhound against negroes. Today they've taken off the white sheet and put on police uniforms. They've traded in the bloodhound for police dogs and they're still doing the same thing. Just as Uncle Tom back during slavery used to keep the negro from resisting the bloodhound or resisting the Ku Klux Klan by teaching them to love their enemy or pray for them...today Martin Luther King is just a 20th century, or modern-day Uncle Tom, or a religious Uncle Tom who is doing the same thing today to keep negroes defenseless in the face of attacks that Uncle Tom did on the plantation to keep those negroes defenseless in the face of the attacks of the Klan in that day.

Interviewer: But the goal of Dr. King is full equality and full rights of citizenship for negroes.

Malcolm: No. The goal of Dr. Martin Luther King is to give the negroes a chance to sit in a segregated restaurant beside the same white man who has brutalized him for 400 years. The goal of Dr. Martin Luther King is to get the negroes to forgive the people who have brutalized them for 400 years by lulling them to sleep to forgetting what those white people have done to them. But the masses of black people in America today don't go for what Martin Luther King is putting down.
