As bad as climate change is it’s the warring over resources and migrations that’s going to make things miserable.

Sure, but China is responsible for twice the amount of total emissions regardless of population. I don’t know what the deeper implications are, but generally speaking, China is worse for the environment than the US, even if it’s just because their population is much larger.

Regardless, I agree that the U.S. isn’t doing enough to curtail our emissions. But does China even care at all?

Part of the problem is that a lot of China's emissions are produced manufacturing products for US consumers.
I'm not saying China doesn't deserve a fair share of blame but the US has to focus on what it can do on its own to mitigate the issue, especially since we're the most responsible and have the capacity to change. And to be honest switching to renewable energy only scratches the surface of the problem. That is literally the least we can do. Republicans love to tarnish the Green New Deal but its still a capitalist fix that does very little to address the root of the problem. It still doesn't address our problem with over consumption as a society nor the fact that we export manufacturing to other countries to produce cheap goods which ultimately increases global emissions.

Climate change isn't even on the radar of most "don't vote" nikkas. In fact I don't think its on the radar of most people in general. Bring up climate change to the average person and they'll give you a blank stare. Believe me, I've tried. For most people large, dynamic and complex issues like climate change are too much to fathom.

And you're right about white voters. They consistently vote for Republicans or DINOs (Sinema and Manchin) who don't give a fukk about the environment. There is no country on this planet that is more responsible for climate change and also has the capability of mitigating the worse effects of it via policy change than the US. And we've been completely held back from making progress on this issue largely due to the voting practices of white America. When their homes are destroyed by wild fires and floods and when farmers cannot grow their crops due to droughts maybe then, they'll finally put all their culture war politics aside and vote more conscionably. I doubt it though.
Right, it boils down to people being too stupid. And we’ll all suffer for it.

are you talking about black people and people of color not giving a fukk about climate change?

How are they gonna give a fukk when they don't even have the basic necessities to live in this world, and in this country? No decent paying job, no affordable homes? generational issues.

This country could be alot better.

I was talking more about people in general. Most people are more concerned about kitchen table issues. But thats most humans in general. Its a privilege to even be in the position where climate change is a top priority because so many people struggle with basic needs, which is why the environmental movement has always been led by white people. Which is unfortunate because any environmental crisis is probably going to impact us disproportionately.

But I agree with you and its sad. Its sad because 1.) We still don't have the basic necessities that'll allow us to live a dignified life and 2.) Given the severity of the climate crisis and the potential fallout from it we may not ever live to see a day where we are given these basic things. And in fact it may only get worse from here unfortunately.

Its more useful to look at climate change as an overarching issue that'll make life worse for the average person. It will make all the things we're deprived of(affordable housing, adequate healthcare, low wage jobs etc) even more unattainable.

shyt, most of the world is already on some 'survival of the fittest' type mentality. So who really gives a fukk?

This sounds like some white people shyt.

If guess you want to live in a hellscape where everyone is struggling to aquire basic necessities (food, water, shelter) and there is little to no margin of safety. And to top off we're under the constant threat of nuclear weapons being denotonated because there are no functioning governments to guard and safe house them. That's the future we're staring down if we don't get our act together.

Ain't saying it's right but we've been conditioned to behave this way.

We know the effects of drinking alcohol and eating junk food. How many people fukk up their livers and suffer from obesity.

The immediate need and instant gratification will be considered over the long term results.

I blame the world leaders. They're supposed to recognise what their working with and take steps towards increasing the competencies of the people who place a role in the project and steering people in the right direction.

They need to start conditioning children to value consistent effort. I think one way of accomplishing this would be moving away from end of year exams which creates this mindset of turning things around in a short period of time. Have a series of assessments and projects throughout the year that requires consistent work throughout the year.

They also need to pass laws that addresses the issue directly. Treat this shyt like covid and take the choice out of people's hands.
