They don't grasp that he is expounding ideas of other scholars, historians and leaders both currently and formerly oppressed. As is the norm for peace activist you are staying well within your predefined non-violent terminology, discussing how India was merely going to use non-cooperation... but have not taken the logical step of analyzing what 'non-cooperation' by a military of 2.5 billion troops means for the citizenry of Britain in the 1940's during WWII. It means 100's of thousands of dead and/or raped Brits, and massive land destruction. i.e. violence. So the threat of violence reigning down on the people of Britain provided the necessary leverage for the enslaved colony to gain its freedom.

If you think that in 1944, Britain paused in the middle of combating Hitler on European soil during a world war to free a colony it had conquered and enslaved since 1750 for 'economic reasons' then you clearly don't understand geopolitics.
