Gordon Brown increased regulation after the fact and you're right the Iraq war and The gold reserve sell of were probably some of the worst times I can remember .But if we had settled on continuing the policies Gordon Brown set out during his time as Prime Minister and instead of having had to live through almost two decades of austerity we'd actually be in a better situation.

blair+brown fanned the credit expansion which has now engulfed the UK and much of the world.

they could have spoken up about it but decided go along with the FED's QE and ZIRP policies.

and they expanded university without expanding traning leading to a structural oversupply of non-stem grads and an undersupply of technicians within the UK.

they expanded NHS admin without a comensurate improvement in care.

they could have spoken up about it but decided go along with the FED's QE and ZIRP policies.

Agreed, and were walking into the same trap after the conservatives pretty have gotten rid of the regulations after the fact. Everyone is at fault here, infact new labour is pretty much conservative with a slightly different lick of paint but still infinitesimally better than this lot.
