He isn’t transcendent as a solo star of a franchise he works better with good if not better comedians or talented actors to lean on or bounce off of
He was good in jumanji and central intelligence him and Kevin Hart are a good duo
Him and zac Efron in bay watch
Him and the entire fast and furious cast
I get what you're saying, but why can't he have that sort of dynamic in an original screenplay that's not a sequel to an existing franchise? It's just bizarre to me that they don't play to his strengths in these new projects.

Doesn't his production company handle all of his non-franchise movies? His team is good at making money but may not be as good at spotting good projects.
Also, the bulk of his filmography is popcorn flicks. I could see him strategically taking risks on films with the sole intent of flipping a profit and zero regard for quality.
In any instance, I agree with you. It's alarming how much his solo projects get shyt on from critics and fans alike. It sucks cause his first few movies were good.
