So where does this put JDS in the rankings?

He's no. 5.
Rothwell is no. 4.
Overeem is no. 3.
Miocic is no. 2.

He got finished by Overeem, but dominated Rothwell who finished Overeem...

...but he's also got a win over Miocic who's no. 2 but he's lost badly to Cain who is the no. 1 contender.

Does he have to beat Cain to get a shot or can he try to get one now? :dwillhuh:

Nice bounceback win for JDS :ehh:, great movement avoiding any big shots by Rothwell. Surprised Rothwell didn't try harder for a takedown earlier on.

I think the fact that Rothwell had 4 finishes in his last 4 fights against some good fighters had him confident that he could finish JDS without the need for a TD. Especially considering how mediocre JDS has looked as of late.

He was there he just believed Reem has a glass jaw

No he wasn't imo JDS didn't do anything in that fight. I don't even think he landed a good strike the whole fight. He was super gun-shy. One of the most frustrating performances by a fighter.

This fight JDS was using movement, attacking the body, going upstairs when needed, circling out when pressed against the cage and overall showing very crisp striking. We barely saw any of that in the Reem fight.

This was the JDS of old, not the one that showed up against the Reem. Not taking away anything from Overeem though, he fought an excellent fight. Much props to him. I just believe that JDS was definitely off in that fight.

I would think he just moves to four for the time being.

We also was coming off an long layoff due to injury
