Chokeholds are so tricky because you can't always know when someone went out. I firmly believe that a lot of these dudes that go out and then pop back up like "I WASN'T OUT
" really were out, but woke back up really quick. Like when you flash dose off watching TV but scare yourself waking up real quick before your head drops.

Pena was slumped for a hot sec there
It was late but he couldn't have seen it. Did the right thing by looking for active movement and checking the arm. He had a bad angle but got to it as quick as he could.

Facts. If I’m a ref I’m talking to you, I need movement, and intelligent defense. If I don’t see/hear 2/3 for 3-5 secs you’re fukking outta here. Especially for a choke. I firmly believe lawlor was unconscious against askren for example.

Herzog been the best ref out for a minute imo. Don’t think he has any controversial calls. I wasn’t sure she was out either. Thought he was right to be fair in giving Pena time and checking her without changing the position at all in case she wasn’t out.

Yea the angle was super unfortunate I understand it. Because of juliannas background I would’ve waited longer to see if she had the d,’but that doesn’t gel with my 3-5 sec rule so I can’t blame herzog too much. Did see her legs start twitching tho
Glad she ok Facts you can blame herb for other fights but not that one. ( herb is a great ref)
