I hope they let Oliveira fight Poirier next to determine who's the new champ. Charles deserves it since he's on a 8-fight winning streak (with 7 of those wins being finishes)

Chandler could fight Gaethje to see who gets the next shot

As for Conor, the Diaz trilogy or Tony makes sense, I like the Ferguson fight better since its a fresh match-up
If it were merit based it would be Dustin vs Oliviera. They're the 2 guys coming off wins that have strung together good win streaks in the process.

I'm mad annoyed that Oliveira is being overlooked today by so many of the pundits. I know Tony was coming off that Justin loss, but Oli having at least two if not three 10-8 rounds over Tony is still insane. Oli has shown growth and high level competency in every facet of the game, including his mentality and fight IQ.

I have a bad feeling that Oli's gonna become the new Tony and they're just going to keep him in the title picture without making it easy for him to get an undisputed title shot. Mostly because he doesn't speak English and he's a tough match-up for so many of the casual fan-favorites in the division. It'll be a god damn shame if they do him like that.

And I agree that Conor vs Tony would be a good fight. Fun to watch. Winnable for both guys. As a huge Stan for Tony though, I worry about the potential CTE. Tony is too crazy to be smart and take Conor down. Win or lose I don't want Tony marching right into Conor's left hands.

When things don't go like he plans. He has zero backup plan. And for some reason he's convinced himself that he's a great boxer cuz Mayweather wanted a payday with him. He's a great salesman. And a shytty boxer.

And his coaches are yes men. Sad how he fell off. The sport would be way more interesting if he was as good as he use to be

Great, great post. He's one of the best one dimensional fighters ever. But he's average at other skills that he could've elevated. His grappling is actually underrated on defense and offense. Like, can you imagine how much better he'd have even in the last 5 years if he had developed at least one really reliable takedown? It's crazy to see someone that has held two title belts seem unable to take the fight to the floor when they need.

I forgot what fighter it was, but someone a few years ago said almost all of his offense is a giant smokescreen to distract opponents from the fact that the straight left hand is what he's almost always trying to land. If that wasn't true at 145 lbs, it was definitely true after. He fell in love with that left hand after Aldo, and he totally stopped throwing punches and also that front kick to the body. He got heavier on his feet but maintained the bladed stance. Gassed himself out by trying to throw every strike as a fight-ending shot.

And the crazy thing is that he got away with these habits because he was so elite at just a few skills. When people talk about the best one-dimensional fighters they often talk about grapplers, like Demian Maia for example. Conor has to be high on the list too.

Should be Poirier vs Oliviera for the vacant title, Chandler vs Justin for number one contender.
Yep. It's driving me crazy that there's actually talk about Dustin vs Conor or Nate for the title.

:mindblown:

This is actually what I hate the most about Conor. His inactivity leads the 155 division to get entirely slowed down and gummed up every time he fights. I don't wanna see Nate for the title either but I like Nate, so I'm not mad at him chasing a bag.

In the post interview he said he knew he fukked up by not checking kicks enough and not going for takedowns. so why he ain't do it? No brain once he enters the octagon...
