All these hyped up flashy kickboxers I'm seeing touted as contender level prospects are sus as fukk, they all give off major Uriah Hall vibes to me. These kids don't realize if you wanna go anywhere in this promotion with a kickboxing/karate base you need YEARS upon years of high level grappling training just to survive.
Lotta guys don't understand that Wonderboy is the major breakthrough success for these types of fighters because he's had over a decade of legit JJ/Wrestling training with his brothers in law Weidman and Machado. You don't get much of a higher pedigree when it comes to grappling training, and Thompson STILL had to take his licks and get emasculated on the ground by Matt Brown once he finally made it to the UFC before he found a way to have real success as a contender with his style. These guys like Brandon Thatch, MVP, and Diakiese haven't invested even 1/10th of the time into grappling comparatively, and you see the results once they make it to the big leagues.
