Can Conor fight Ferguson please? We need to see them ppv #s before Conor is mentioned. Conor may ask for even more guap if last nights card didnt sell. That was the most entertaining even in a min.
I don't disagree. Just asking considering how it seems certain that it's the next money fight the UFC would like to do.

If GSP does indeed stay MW champ, Whitaker is the only one he should be fighting next. If he goes down to WW, then Woodley or a superfight with McGregor. Although I hope McGregor fights Tony next.

I could see JJ getting an immediate rematch, she did lose definitively but she defended the belt 5 times and I'm curious as to how she responds in a rematch. Plus there aren't a bunch of new challengers at SW who deserve a shot at the title.

Now that TJ is champ, I do want to see the MM fight. If he can make the weight and retain his skills, it makes for a really intriguing matchup. I suspect it comes down to money and I hope the UFC pays DJ to make it worth it.

surprised a dude like you would entertain such a farce

same here I hope it's not a newton/king MO scenario.

very strange how when DJ ((who has the record and title) wanted this fight Dana shot it down at every turn. Now TJ wins the belt in his division and calls out DJ and Dana is like "I like it"..So the fight should only happen when TJ asks for it but when DJ does he needs to beat more guys? What a piece of shyt

Is it fair to say that Bisping is the greatest Ultimate Fighter winner ever or am I forgetting someone? :jbhmm:
The best ones IMO are in no particular order: Michael Bisping, Nate Diaz, Tony Ferguson, and Rashad Evans.

Robert Whitaker has some potential to be up there too IMO. Diego Sanchez had a lot of potential but sort of became a brawler and started taking too much damage. Forrest Griffin was good but always a little bit overrated IMO. Matt Serra I guess but he won the season with the previous UFC vets on it.

Honestly Chris Holdsworth I think would have become a belt holder or a top level guy, but his career is obviously done. He only had one fight after he won TUF but he dominated the season and dominated his one fight after that. But with the concussions there's no chance he comes back. Could've been one of the best BJJ guys in MMA, I think.

Is that GSP first finish since Serra?
Technically BJ Penn didn't get off the stool for round 5 in their second fight in 2009. But yeah it's the first fight GSP has finished during a round of fighting since the the 2nd Serra fight in 2008.

His coach John Danaher posted about the necessity of a finish

"Victory in New York! Georges St-Pierre came back after four years of inactivity to win the UFC middleweight title against the great Michael Bisping at Madison Square Garden tonight. It was perhaps the most dramatic fight of his incredible career. Despite his incredible past successes there have always been three constant criticisms of his work, the first, that he did not finish fights, the second, that he never fought above his weight, and the third, that he fought in a tactical fashion that made some of his fights convincing, but unexciting. Mr St-Pierre took time off to train and reconfigure himself in a way that would enable him to prove people wrong. He worked with Freddie Roach on his punching power and with the Danaher Death Squad on submission skills and tied everything together with Firas Zahabi. Tonight he stormed back into the octagon and finished a great opponent in a heavier weight class above his own in a very dramatic and action packed fight. This fight had it all - striking, takedowns, submissions- all encased in back and forth action. When Mr St-Pierre first mentioned to us his desire to come back, it was me who suggested taking on Mr Bisping. My reasoning was that all his career, He had beaten tough welterweights. If he came back as a welterweight it would add nothing to his legacy. Only a significant change in octagon demeanor and weight made sense, so we began planning. All credit to Mr St-Pierre and his worthy opponent Mr Bisping. We are all so proud!"

His BJJ was sick, but I don't know if he would have been that good. I agree his career is definitely a good what if scenario if he didn't have the concussion issue.

Kinda reminds me of TJ Grant who had similar issues and was never able to return, and he was about to get a title shot.

I don't think the fight should happen next, but in the era the sport is in now :francis:.

It does seem like Conor wants to fight Tony next, so I'm hoping that fight gets done.
I'm biased because I'm team darce chokes for life, and so I've always been a big Tony Ferguson fan, but Conor vs Tony needs to happen. I understand we're in a different era with money fights and what not, and I guess Conor said they're negotiating the terms now, but the fact that there was even a discussion of Conor fighting anyone but the winner of Ferguson/Lee was ridiculous IMO. Do the crazy fights that slow down the divisions every now and then. But like Tony said, "Defend or vacate." Conor is healthy and has the strap. Tony is healthy and has the interim strap. Let's do it.

Whether Conor wins or loses, it doesn't take away the marketability of a 3rd fight with Diaz. That fight is always on the shelf.

Fair enough. I may be overrating him a little bit in hindsight. I guess he was a 135er, right? So he'd have to deal with that Cruz/Cody/TJ triple threat, and all 3 of those guys have much better movement on the feet than him.

He's a guy like Ryan Hall. Neither have won a lot of major titles in the BJJ or submission grappling world, but both were better than what they accomplished in that world, and both adapted their jiu-jitsu very well to MMA.

I'm a jiu-jitsu and grappling nerd in general so I overly mark out for guys that I want to see do very good in MMA.
