So many of us live in bubbles that we rarely see the underbelly of america. If you've driven through some small towns you see some very disheartening sights. Ive seen towns that literally look post apocolyptic. People openly living in abandoned/ gutted brickbuildings, dirt roads, people walking around barefoot looking like they are 1 day away from pulling anyone with a car out of their vehicle. Kids that practically look like infants wandering the street like lost pets. The criticism we have for other nations is a joke when we so effortlessly ignore issues in our own backyard.

Yep. You will see politicians talk about the middle class all day long but to this day I have never, ever heard any of these guys talk about the bottom 1-5%. The real downtrodden and screwed over people. Granted, some of those people made that bed but still, America has no time for these people. It's so demonic friend.

im curious what the racial makeup of this group of impoverished kids is.

i think it's become obvious we are practicing a mutated form of capitalism. i think of it as corporate capitalism. these big companies and banks, siphoned off the wealth of the middle class, and keep us as indentured servants. it's harder and harder for the little guy to succeed. im all for the free market, but i have a problem with there being a wal-mart on every corner.

It isn't capitalism in a traditional way. It's more like flipped socialism.

The corporations and wealthy get welfare, social programs to foster growth, tax breaks, tax loops, offshore accounts to not pay taxes, etc.

The average American worker subsidizes these wealthy people and corporations when it should be the other way around.

The US is probably richer than all the countries combined on that list so that in itself should allow us to never appear on these types of list. Its only going to get worse than better I can tell you that because zero fukks will be given by any politician in Washington today. We as people have to band together and offer service and support to the unfortunate in our communities.

yup, exactly. then the corporations and wealthy dictate our governmental policies through funding the parties, and through lobying. (who knows what else)

then we get a huge income inequality, people living paycheck to paycheck drowning in all kinds of debt. banks and wealthy owning property and businesses, etc.

then if a big bank messes up, they get a handout from the people. but miss some mortgage payments and that same bank will take your home.

and we have a much larger population than romania by the way, so we're ranked 2nd in %. but that means we rank 1 in TOTAL impoverished kids by a huge margin. :ld:

Its hard to feel bad for those people when they are the main people voting against their own interest and in many cases are the most racist people you will ever meet.
