We have fixed term energy contracts down here so my shyt is cheap for another 3 years
Once that contract is up we will have long moved on from this house so it won’t even be my problem.
Electric and gas powered generators to pull my house off the grid when we move is mandatory after the fuccery experienced during the February snow storm here in Houston.

8 cents, this was before all the power grid Fuccery, you can’t find a cheaper contract than 11 cents now.
Where are you located?
Thats why you lock in your gas rate.

That's a good deal. Average up here is about $.15 kw/hr. Hell, if you owned the house I'd advise you to invest in solar panels so you could sell excess power back to your utility company.

Is the ductwork exposed or insulated? Multiple registers in each room or just one in each? Is any part of the living area colder than the rest when the heat is running? How long (in minutes) does your heater run each cycle? During the winter, how much snow collects on the roof and do you see large icicles hanging from the edges?
