Its not “more likely” to happen under Tyler Perry’s watch than it would Tom Hanks.

You got it.

Tyler Perry has absolutely ZERO history of being connected creatively, financially, or business-wise to anything regarding deeper black culture other than his Black Christian Value Minstrel shows and Lowbrow lowest common denominator black soap operas.

You're right, he went from being known for patronizing to black christians to somehow patronizing to a certain other cultures with his bet+ shows.

Somehow, that person that's good at going from one far extreme to the other may not be able to develop any nuance or development with his content, even after owning a Network and not developing content to sell to one.

There will be no return of 106 & Park, BET Nightly News, Black College Football, Teen Summit, Planet Groove, or Comic View. The “Golden Era” of BET has long since passed. The most we MIGHT get is something like a reboot of Cita’s World. THAT’S up Tyler Perry’s ally

I guess but I rather give him the benefit of the doubt and see how this goes, rather than BET being sold to a white network/owner and either showcasing the most ignorant shyt (imagine the Worldstar show but on BET) or quickly dissolving it into nothing almost immediately.

Imagine Tyler Perry and Diddy teaming up for a revolt + bet thing, or him signing on podcasts for tv broadcasts like the JBP/Drink champs/math Hoffa show/getting some live performances, etc/Tyler Perry movies launching on there/black creators moving from shyt like Tubi to BET

I rather be an optimistic on this situation and my opinion on a lot of Perry's shyt have been clear but im still all for this

I can't see Tyler doing anything more with Bet+ that he doesn't already do with his TP Studios ish.

He's epitomized by his cheapness and the pride he takes in that plus his name on every facet of whatever show/movie he's doing.

He's probably not gonna be looking for the next Atlanta or Insecure or anything like that.

How much y'all think BET is worth in 2023? It sold for 3 billion back in 2001.

I wish they would just create another bet channel and let it play nothing but the original shows from the 80s and 90s

We’re not going to see it regardless

Thats his lane, his bread and butter and thats what he sticks with. And thats good for him and if he takes over BET thats what we’ll get more of.
