1) what does it mean to be gay?
2) what does it mean it mean to be transgendered? Transsexual?
1) The base definition is: to have an enduring emotional, romantic, and/or physical/sexual attraction to the same sex.
2) Transgender is an umbrella term used in reference to all people who's gender identity contradicts their biological sex (i.e. a male-to-female transgender woman has an outward appearance of a male, but self-identifies as female [for whatever reason, though typically biological and psychological]). Transsexuals are distinguished because though they are transgender, they pursue hormonal treatment and bodily augmentation (e.g. SRS; Sex Reassignment Surgery) to align their outward appearance with their psychological identity.
Another thing to consider is both legally and technically, transsexuals are considered female and should be regarded to in respect to their identity.
With that being said, how is a man dancing with a transsexual woman homosexual? She's female. She behaves femininely; looks ladylike; has female hormonal treatments and bodily alterations; and lives her life as a woman. There is nothing homosexual about a man and his attraction to the opposite sex or anything womanly. There's nothing male or masculine about a transsexual other than the unlucky distribution of the y chromosome and the M on her birth certificate.
