ya’ll don’t know how long I been saying this. Lenny Wilkins and Mike Fratello swapped jobs in the 90s, and both were called defensive whizzes for having their offenses use the entire shot clock. It was terrible basketball. Riley’s Knicks used to do this too.

Too many old heads spend time shytting on the modern era. So don’t get mad that young people are doing the same.

Jordan and Kobe stans downplay the modern era all the time. Now we’re the bad guys for doing the same shyt for their era? Maybe now they’ll appreciate every era and stop being insecure. :skip:

Jordan didn’t start winning until he got Pippen/Bird/Magic/IT got old/the league added expansions teams’

Kobe forced his way to the most prestigious NBA franchise and was gifted the most dominant player of the early 2000s. See how this game works? We can downplay anything we don’t like orrrrr we can appreciate every era.

It’s because those other sports don’t have the old guys commenting and always hating on the current generation and holding them to stupid standards. Joe Montana just let the Brady story happen. If anything, they’re defensive of younger players. The harshest criticism you get is Brady saying guys are being taught the wrong thing. But basketball guys like Barkley have used his platform to harshly critique younger players and assume an air of superiority forever. The natural backlash is guys shytting on them.

Because the tribalism in other sports is usually in regards to teams, in basketball it’s about players and eras

Above the fray.
These are people of that time period talking and this only started because of the excess critique of the new generation.

If anything people take the myths perpetuated of that era today as fact.
Wait, somebody seems to have collected and curated a series of quotes from the 1990s and you're telling me that it's people from that era driving the discussion?

The eras are different. The rulebook is different, specifically to favor perimeter players and make the game more fan friendly. That's not an opinion, that's documented as the reason by rules committee.
NFL did the same thing, and for the same reason.
