If you think an adult that's sexually attracted to a 16 year old girl is a pedo you clearly don't know what a pedo is because they wouldn't touch someone that old. Personally I feel if you're 21 and up dating somebody 18 is stupid. You should only date and have sex with people about your same age and an 18 year old might still be in high school and if you're 21 you been outta high school for years.
That being said the law says it's fine so I wouldn't give anybody shyt for it. There's not that much of a difference between somebody 18 and somebody 16. Both are driving a car and both are likely still in high school. I don't consider an 18 year old grown. If your age has the word teen after it you're still a teenager and if you aren't several years removed from high school you've probably still got a high school mentality.
The term is ephebophile or hebephile by the way not pedophile. the formers is into 10-19 age range and the latter is into children under the age of 10 that haven't gone through puberty.
22 years old has been out of high school 3 years. Mentally that's a different place then 16-18. If you're 18 there's a good chance you're a senior in high school. For the common high schooler the maturity ain't there. Even coming out of high school it will take a year or 2 to shed that mentality. The first year or 2 of college I was around a few people I graduated with and they were still mentally high schoolers.Fake outrage. 22 and 17 age gap is nowhere near pedo status, y'all acting like it's 22 and 9.

The older you get, you realize that there are bubbles placed on age and consent that aren't consistent with reality. There are people who will tell you that the day you graduate high school, you should no longer romantically link with high schoolers, which is ridiculous. There are people who will tell you that if you're a senior in high school you shouldn't mess with freshmen, which is equally ridiculous...
This is admittedly anecdotal, but the age it seems most people mentally and emotionally leap from childhood into adulthood is 22. Some people are ahead of the curve but I strongly stand on this, there is typically gradual maturity until then but your age 22 year seems like the major leap happens there. 18/19 year olds are teenagers and still very much socially intertwined with teenage things, the fact that American culture has told us you're "grown" at 18 looks embarrassing, considering the maturity spectrum from 16-19 isn't large at all...

But if he was 24 years old with an 18 year older that's ok? A Psychologically how much difference between someone 18 and someone 17 is there? Probably not much.
Once you're 21+ you shouldn't be looking back.People drawing a line in the sand at age 18 are probably not doing so for any meaningful purpose there than because they have the impression that that's legal. As I pointed out technically in most of the country 16-17 is legal.

Well, our culture has shaped us that way to view an 18 and a 17 year old differently. But if you're asking me if I see a difference, personally, my answer is no. But I'm consistent on both sides of the coin, I think at 24 you're too old to be recruiting 18 year olds, the maturity gap is in a very different space...
I don't see anything but a minor difference between 17 and 18 year olds, and in most states 17 is the age of consent...
