The real problem (imo) is that there was a void in the first place. Kevin Samuels wasn't a mentor, by his own admission of his top influences and a look at his content, he's an entertainer. In his professional life and personal life he's a twice divorced professional failure who was renting a room in a woman's house before he figured out youtube. He literally died on top of a one night stand.
Why was he someone to emulate?
These guys are looking for answers in people they found on free entertainment sites and instead of in their communities. That's a problem.

Kevin Samuel’s was a conman. Dude was a huge liar to the point of it being compulsive. He was broke as hell before YouTube and was a college dropout. I can’t remember the stream but there was a clip of him basically admitting to being bisexual. I never got the hype with him.
