Tupac Shakur’s Estate Threatens to Sue Drake Over Diss Track Featuring AI-Generated Tupac Voice

Tupac Shakur’s estate threatened a lawsuit against Drake over a diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar featuring an AI-generated version of Tupac's voice.

Tupac Shakur’s estate is threatening to sue Drake over a recent diss track against Kendrick Lamar that featured an AI-generated version of the late rapper’s voice, calling it a “a flagrant violation” of the law and a “blatant abuse” of his legacy.

In a Wednesday cease-and-desist letter obtained exclusively by Billboard, litigator Howard King told Drake (Aubrey Drake Graham) that he must confirm that he will pull down his “Taylor Made Freestyle” in less than 24 hours or the estate would “pursue all of its legal remedies” against him.

A major artist using AI alone is a crazy pandoras box to open, let alone using a beloved dead rapper to make disses against people they never even knew without the family's permission. How long before some lesser-known drill rapper gets clapped because some rabid fans made the most obscene disrespectful diss using AI and it was mistaken for being the real thing?

You would think that after that fake Drake/Weeknd song charted, he would know better than to do anything with AI. But Drake doesn't actually create his own music so of course the implications of using AI went way over him and his team's heads while anybody with half an ounce of creativity in their body knew that that shyt was insanely irresponsible
