Modi and his followers love bootlickers. They'll accept bootlickers from any race, nationality, or religion, so long as they feel it serves their purposes. In India there are even token Muslims supporting the BJP, basically Tim Scott equivalents yet somehow even worse (Republicans will never say out loud that their goal is to eliminate Black people from the country, but major BJP politicians have said exactly that).
