I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread for the show with the 2hr premiere tonight on FS1. The concept of TUF is beyond stale, but I'm really looking to this season for a number of reasons. First the winner of the season will actually be crowned champion once the show is over, so it has real stakes. Second, the women competing are actually some of the best fighters in their division unlike current seasons of TUF where anybody who is really good would have already been in the UFC. Having a higher crop of talent should actually produce higher quality fights. The Straweight Division is one of the more talent rich divisions in MMA, so it wouldn't shock me if they produced better fights than some of the 135lb women have.

Plus I like both coaches in Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez.

I thought the 1st episode was pretty good in introducing the fighters and the way they set up the rankings was cool. An upset in the 1st fight set the tone, as I don't think the rankings will really matter too much. It was a very close fight, I think if Tecia didn't let Randa get control in the later part of Rd 3 she might have gotten the nod. Randa did a good job in using her size and wrestling to get the W.

Yea I thought the first episode was very good in terms of introducing the fighters. If Tecia had any sort of BJJ she could have submitted that girl easy. Her transitions were sloppy and she wasn't smooth at all. Outside of the late GnP in RD2, she basically lnp. Esperanza is winning this belt anyway. I don't see any girl having an answer for her wrestling

Carla definitely has to be considered a favorite. I also like Jessica Penne a lot because her BJJ is really good and Joanne who is fighting next week has some of the best Muy Thai skills I have seen in the SW division.

I think this will be a really entertaining season. This will be the first time I'll watch every episode since GSP/Koscheck :russ:

Rose and Randa are the best looking to me - but they're already wifed up :beli:

I like Felice Herrig too - a little rough in the face, but she got something back there :leon:

Ronda Rousey is a fan of Thug Rose

"I definitely think it’s Rose Namajunas. I called it from the very beginning. As soon as I saw her, I said this girl is special. I've been following her for two years. I wish her all the best, and I can't wait to see how she does in the season."

"She’s bound to be successful. She's got an amazing skill set. She’s an exciting fighter. She takes risks. She’s gorgeous. And she’s charismatic. I really think she has all the tools that are needed in order to be the next really influential champion."
