It's February of 1983. It's Mid South. Andre The Giant/Tony Atlas vs Ted DiBiase/Matt Borne. Jim DOOGAN runs in, does the jumping headbutt to Tony, starts throwing punches at Andre. Ted loads up his glove and punches Andre. Andre puts Ted and Borne in a bear hug when KAMALA hits the ring and hits Andre with a piece of wood to break it up, then hits Andre in the head leading to an amazingly blatant blade job from Andre. Tony dropkicks the board into Kamala's face, but he pretty much no sells it and Kamala slams Andre and brawls with Duggan until JYD and Mr. Wrestling II hit the ring and run the heels off.
This isn't even the main event. If JR was on commentary, you'd think it was a 1998 Raw
There's a lot of interesting shyt on various shows in 1982/83 on the Network. Guys like Arn Anderson, Rick Rude, Barbarian, Animal, Buddy Landel, and Samu as jobbers under their real names or at least no gimmicks at all. LOTS of footage from other areas that otherwise aren't on the Network being shown (Mid Atlantic shows the most footage from other territories, with Georgia, Florida, Memphis, and even All Japan getting shown, WCCW showing Houston and St. Louis, Mid South showing Houston/Portland, everywhere showing WWF if Andre was coming to town.) Of course, anytime guys switched areas, footage from wherever they were last would get shown. It was pretty interesting how the territory system worked when it came to stuff like that.
Rat Pack really were running that shyt in Mid South. Amazing how bland DiBiase was as a face, and how much spark he had the second he turned. And Doink could fukking work, y'all.
